Group C: Sunday 10th June 19:45
'Must not lose' first game for Ireland and Croatia
Croatia
Full-back Vedran Corluka should be available for Slaven Billic's side despite taking a knock in training while Ivica Olić's exclusion after injury will give a starting place to Nikica Jelavic in attack. Defender Dejan Lovren has also been withdrawn from the squad after an Achilles injury, giving Bilic just a few options at the back and he will also have to decide whether to start Niko Kranjcar or Ivan Rakitic on the left side of midfield.
Ireland
Giovanni Trapattoni becomes the first manager to take charge of Ireland at the Euros for 24 years, and will be boosted by the declaration of fitness from experienced keeper Shay Given, who had been suffering with a knee injury. Trapattoni took the unusual step of naming his starting line-up for the game almost a week ago, and it's unlikely to stray from this as long as there are no late injuries. Meaning Aidan McGeady will start ahead of the impressive James McClean, who will be used as an impact sub. Robbie Keane will spearhead the attack, looking to continue his great international scoring record.
Clean Sheet potential:
Ireland have 11 clean sheets from 14 games.
Transfer Target:
Robbie Keane - the leading international British Isles goal scorer of all time.
Last meeting:
Ireland 0-0 Croatia (2012)
