Alba tops Euro fantasy football standings, Baines ignoring speculation and Mancini remains tight-lipped on van Persie

It’s hardly surprising that seven of the top 10 overall fantasy football performers at Euro 2012 came from the Spanish side, with left-back Jordi Alba beating all-comers with a highly impressive 34 points from six games.
Elsewhere, in a move that will infuriate most football fans, Michel Platini has revealed his plans for Euro 2020 to be held across "12 or 13 countries", according to the Guardian.
Despite worries that hosting the tournament across such a wide area could cost fans fortunes in travel expenses, Platini simply stated that "there are low cost airlines".
Leighton Baines has told Sky Sports News that he is aware of the rumours that Manchester United are interested in him, but has stated that he is not allowing himself to be distracted by the speculation.
Baines scored 32 fantasy football points last season for Everton and is flattered by the rumours, but claims that "it doesn’t do any harm [to be linked] but it doesn’t do any good either."
In other news, Sky Sports is also reporting that Roberto Mancini is remaining tight-lipped about Manchester City’s potential move for Arsenal hitman Robin van Persie.
Rumours have been rife that the Dutchman may leave the Emirates as he has only one year remaining on his current contract, but Mancini refused to confirm whether or not he intends to lodge a bid for the striker.
Finally, the Telegraph is reporting that Laurent Blanc has stepped down as France coach following their disappointing Euro 2012 campaign.
The former Manchester United defender was thought to be on Tottenham’s managerial wish-list, before Andre Villas-Boas emerged as frontrunner to take over at White Hart Lane.
