Burnley boss Owen Coyle will be without young striker Jay Rodriguez for the home clash with Birmingham, after the 20-year-old suffered a broken ankle on Wednesday night in a reserve game. Rodriguez joins Martin Paterson and Chris McCann on the long-term injury list, who have both suffered knee injuries. Captain Stephen Caldwell is pushing for a place in the team, using the reserve clash in midweek to get some match fitness after groin problems. However Coyle may decide to continue with Andre Bikey and Clarke Carlisle despite the five goals conceded at Spurs last time out. Fernando Guerrero is still out with a hamstring strain, although Michael Duff is fit again and should make the bench.
- Injured: Rodriguez, Guerrero, Paterson, McCann
- Suspended: None
- Doubtful: None
- Late Fitness Test: None
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish once again faces a tough selection choice for the trip to Burnley, with several players still nursing injuries. Christian Benitez however, is not injured, but will not feature due to compassionate leave given to attend to his father, injured in a car crash. Stuart Parnaby and Franck Queudrue are hopeful of featuring, but will have to undergo late examinations, while James McFadden has an outside chance of returning early from a thigh muscle strain. Cameron Jerome is not yet fit, but hopes to be given the green light after the international break, meaning Gary O'Connor is likely to continue in the role or lone front-man, with Kevin Phillips on the bench. Liam Ridgewell will be pushing for a return in defence after his broken leg.
- Injured: Jerome, D Murphy, M Taylor
- Suspended: None
- Doubtful: McFadden, Johnson, M Bent
- Late Fitness Test: Parnaby, Queudrue
