Ronaldo threat to Spain, Schweinsteiger versus Pirlo and Capello lashes out at Rooney

The Telegraph reports that Vicente del Bosque has said that Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo must be "deactivated" tonight if Spain are to progress to the Euro 2012 final.

Alvaro Arbeloa, Ronaldo’s team-mate at Real Madrid, will be tasked with stopping the man who has already scored 12 fantasy football points so far in the competition.

Arbeloa said: "He is very demanding to play against, but I am confident I can do well."

To Thursday, and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been passed fit for Germany’s semi-final against Italy, the BBC reports.

The Bayern Munich player, who has scored four fantasy league points so far, had been a doubt because of an ankle injury, but German coach Joachim Low has confirmed he will play against the Azzurri.

Schweinsteiger will be assigned the task of stopping Andrea Pirlo.

Pirlo was critical of his opponents' tactics in that game, telling the BBC that England tried to play like Chelsea in the Champions League final in order to secure penalties.

Meanwhile, as reported in the Guardian, Fabio Capello has launched a scathing attack on Wayne Rooney.

The former England manager has claimed that the Manchester United striker delivers for his club but not country because he only understands instruction delivered in Sir Alex Ferguson’s Glaswegian accent.

The outburst came as a response to Rooney’s previous comments suggesting that the unity in the England dressing room at the Euros was aided by having an English-speaking manager.

In transfer news, new Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has insisted that his "weapons" will see Arsenal end their trophy draught, according to TalkSPORT.

The French striker said: "I have the weapons to do well here, I will need some time to adapt of course, but I am not worried about that. I think I will adapt well."
