Chilli Guide

Welcome to the Chilli Guide - our weekly guide to which players you should be looking to bring into your team and who you should be avoiding.

Who decides on the chillis and snowflakes? you may ask. You do - the guide is based on the number of times a player is transferred in and out, by you the Fantasy League Classic managers.

Each Tuesday during the season, we'll be providing a rundown of the latest players who are a manager's best friend this week, only to be unceremoniously dropped the next.

Hot Players

Florent Malouda (Chelsea)
I I I

The seven Fantasy League points scored by Florent Malouda in Chelsea's 4-1 win over West Ham at the weekend has pushed the Frenchman to third in the ranking for midfielders this season. Malouda now has seven goals and six assists, totalling 33 FL points, meaning only Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and team-mate Frank Lampard are ahead of him.

Emiliano Insua (Liverpool)
I I

After a run of seven clean sheets in 11 games, Liverpool have slipped back into making silly mistakes and giving away soft goals again. They have not kept a clean sheet in their last three games after Dirk Kuyt gifted Wigan a winner last week and even when cursing to a 4-0 win over bottom club Portsmouth they failed to see out the last five minutes without conceding. Emiliano Insua picked up three assists on that good run of form the team had, making him popular amongst Fantasy League managers, but should this current run continue that may soon change.

Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United)
I

Injury has restricted the amount og game time that Edwin van der Sar has notched up this season, but Fantasy League Classis managers would have expected a better return than seven clean sheets in 13 games. The Dutch international has not conceded a goal in either of his last two league games though and his popularity has risen as a result. Managers should be wary that United host Liverpool at the weekend though, so may have been holding off until after that before bringing van der Sar in.

Cold Players

Ivan Klasnic (Bolton Wanderers)
*

Croatian striker Ivan Klasnic became a popular acquisition for Fantasy League Classic managers around the turn of the year when he was going through a real purple patch. Klasnic notched up 21 FL points in seven games during November and December, but has yet to add to that in the months since. Swedish team-mate Johan Elmander has been keeper Klasnic out of the side of late and scored at the weekend meaning Klasnic's chances could be further limited in the coming weeks.

Ryan Shawcross (Stoke City)
* *

The 23 Fantasy League points scored by Ryan Shawcross this season, coupled with his cheap Fantasy League Classic price made him one of the most popular defenders in the game. The red card he picked up for the tackle on Aaron Ramsey dented that popularity a tad, as it meant a three game ban. Shawcross returns to action this weekend and Stoke have a few attractive games coming up, therefore provided he is in the right frame of mind, following the horrific injury he caused Ramsey, he could be quickly back amongst the points.

Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur)
* * *

The situation surrounding Aaron Lennon is becoming increasingly worrying for both Tottenham and England as his return date gets pushed back again. Further complications surrounding his groin injury means he is not due back in action until mid-April. With his return date constantly being put back, Fantasy League managers heave really begin to lose patience and those who has stuck with Lennon have finally begin to let go.
