We take a look at how your Fantasy League players performed as qualification for the 2012 European Championship kicked-off

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe bagged three goals, worth nine Fantasy League points, as England started down the path to redemption following a dismal World Cup by crushing Bulgaria 4-0.

Defoe was in clinical form and coolly converted the first England hat-trick since Theo Walcott famously struck a triple against Croatia.

England manager Fabio Capello gave Wayne Rooney a free role behind Defoe and the Manchester United man was back to his very best, collecting three assists equal to six points.

Joe Hart impressed again between the sticks and racked up another clean sheet, while his Manchester City team-mate Adam Johnson was clearly delighted to score his first senior England goal.

The Netherlands recovered from losing in the World Cup Final by beating minnows San Marino 5-0 and all-action Liverpool midfielder Dirk Kuyt got a goal and two assists, which adds up to seven FL points.

The Dutchman will soon be playing alongside Raul Meireles in the red of Liverpool and the midfielder was on the score sheet as Portugal were held to a shock 4-4 draw by Cyprus.

Meireles’ new Liverpool team-mate Fernando Torres was also among the goals, netting twice as World champions Spain demolished Liechtenstein 4-0.

Manchester City’s new arrival David Silva got one of the goals and Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas picked up an assist.

Birmingham duo Keith Fahey and Nikola Zigic both scored as the Republic of Ireland and Serbia recorded respective wins over Armenia and the Faroe Islands.

And finally, Fulham defender Brede Hangeland hit the back of the net for Norway in their 2-1 win over Scandinavian rivals Iceland.
