Liverpool v Birmingham

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres does not need surgery but is set to miss three weeks with his troublesome groin according to reports. Skipper Steven Gerrard remains a major doubt for the visit of Birmingham on Monday night with a similar injury. Defensive duo Jamie Carragher and Philipp Degen are both sidelined through suspension after seeing red in the defeat at Fulham last weekend. There is a chance Glen Johnson could return but he is still struggling with a groin problem and faces a late fitness test. Fabio Aurelio and Andrea Dossena are doubtful but Martin Skrtel returns following a virus.

Barry Ferguson is suspended for Birmingham and will miss the trip to Anfield on Monday night. The Scot was sent off against Manchester City for receiving two yellow cards and serves a one-match ban as a result. Elsewhere Keith Fahey and Gary O'Connor are doubts with knee and groin injuries respectively and Joe Hart could return in goal, having been ineligible last week.
