Premier League clubs submit squad lists

Injured duo Jonathan Woodgate and Philippe Senderos are the biggest names to be omitted

All 20 Premier League clubs named their 25-man Premier League squads yesterday, meaning there are one or two players who won't see any league action until January at the earliest.

The new Premier League rule required clubs to name a squad of 25 senior players, with only players under the age of 21 allowed to supplement that line-up until January.

To count as an Under 21 player, they have to have been aged 21 or under on January 1st 2010.

It made sense for managers to leave players who are on the long-term injury list, like Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate and Fulham's new signing Philippe Senderos, out of the squad.

Woodgate requires another operation on his troublesome groin in a bid save his career, while Senderos ruptured his achillies shortly after making the switch from Everton.

Stoke striker Mamady Sidibe is out for the season with an achillies injury of his own and has also been omitted, as has Blackpool striker Billy Clarke.

Seasiders reserve goalkeeper Paul Rachubka has also been struggling with injury and has left out, with Blackpool bringing Ghana international Richard Kingson on a free transfer, subject to a medical, as back up to Matt Gilks.

Wolves midfielder Michael Kightly suffered a recurrence of his knee problem in training last week and he has also been left out as he bids to fully recover.

Tottenham have also left out goalkeeper Ben Alnwick, who slipped down the pecking order on Tuesday following the loan signing of Croatian international Stipe Pletikosa.

Fulham's veteran stopper Pascal Zuberbuhler, combative Bolton midfielder Gavin McCann and West Brom striker Luke Moore are the other players from the Fantasy League Player List to have missed out.

Some notable players who have been included in their respective squads is Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves, who continues to battle with injury, and Manchester City duo Roque Santa Cruz and Michael Johnson, who feared their careers at Eastlands were coming to an end.
