In the final segment of our 08/09 Awards series we look at the top scoring striker from last season, Chelsea's much travelled Frenchman Nicolas Anelka
The Premier League's golden boot winner Nicolas Anelka was also the top points scoring Fantasy League striker with a very impressive 69 points.
The Chelsea forward scored 19 goals and added six assists even though he spent much of the season on the wing, with Didier Drogba playing through the middle as a central striker.
Anelka enjoyed his best spell of goal scoring in the autumn when he fired home eight goals in four games.
That included a hat-trick against Sunderland, a feat he repeated against Watford in the FA Cup.
The Frenchman was back among the goals as the season reached its climax with four goals in the final four matches of the season.
Now 30, Anelka first caught the public's imagination as a 17-year-old at Arsenal before moving to Real Madrid.
Prolific spells at Liverpool, Manchester City and Bolton followed but he wasn't really expected to score so many points at Chelsea last season.
It was thought that so much time spent out wide would nullify Anelka's goal threat, but at the end of the 2008/09 Fantasy League season he had scored 13 more points than the next best player in his position who, believe it or not, was Liverpool's hardworking Dutchman Dirk Kuyt.
