Goal getting defender finalises City move and four new players to pick

Manchester City finally completed the signing of England defender Joleon Lescott last night, paying Everton a reported £22m for his services.

The big spending club have tried all summer to get the former Wolves defender and Everton finally gave in, but are expected to complain about the way City chased their transfer target.

Lescott has been a popular choice for Fantasy League managers in recent years because of his ability to score goals and should collect plenty of points at the new look Manchester City.

City are yet to concede a goal in the Premier League this season and could be even stronger at the back with Lescott partnering fellow new face Kolo Toure, in the centre of defence.

Lescott, who was dropped by Everton when he reacted badly to his transfer request being rejected, is available on the Player List for £4.6m and scored 50 points last season having been the top scoring player in his position in 2007/08 when he scored 65.

The 27-year-old England international becomes the second most expensive defender in English football after Rio Ferdinand and takes City's summer spending beyond £120m.

Manchester City have also signed former Arsenal full-back Sylvinho after the Brazilian was released by Barcelona and he'll be added to the Player List once he's received international clearance.

Everton are also waiting for their latest signing to be given the green light after they agreed a deal for Russian midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old is waiting for a visa to enter the UK so that he can complete his move from Lokomotiv Moscow.

The deal for the left-winger, who has played 28 times for his country, could be as high as £10 million and his new manager David Moyes thinks he is capable of scoring and creating goals for the Toffees.

Bilyaletdinov, who is keen to follow in the footsteps of his countryman and former Everton winger Andrei Kanchelskis, will be added to the Player List when the paperwork surrounding his transfer is completed.

Four players new players are available for you to select for your team following the weekend's action.

Jonathan Greening and Andre Bikey have returned to the Premier League, while new arrivals Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Mohamed Diame can be picked for the first time.

Cultural midfielder Greening has joined Fulham on loan until the end of the season after impressing with West Brom last term and the former Manchester United man is on the Player List priced at £3.6m.

Bikey has signed for Burnley and made an instant impact in the centre of the promoted outfit's defence keeping clean sheets against Manchester United and Everton.

The former Reading defender has been priced at £3.3m on the Classic Player List.

Liverpool have strengthened their defensive options with the capture of experienced Greek centre-back Kyrgiakos from AEK Athens and he'll provide cover if injury strikes down both Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel again.

Finally Wigan moved quickly to replace the battling Luke Cattermole by bringing in French midfielder Mohamed Diame from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano.

Reports suggest the Latics beat Real Madrid and Barcelona to his signature and he can be in your team for £3.4m following his all-action debut against Manchester United.

Yes, he can cope with the Premier League and international football, but can he cope with Alan Lee, Darren Ambrose and Victor Moses tonight? I think not. If I were Mark Hughes I would rest him, for fear of breaking his confidence too early.

    Overpriced

Lescott is good, but not worth £22M. Everton got the better end of the deal imo
