Fantasy League Awards 09/10 – Full-back: Patrice Evra

18th May 2010By: Ian Hart

Seven assists helps Evra become top-scoring full-back

Energetic defender Patrice Evra has been Manchester United's Mr Consistency this season featuring in all but one league game for the league runners-up.

In fact, the Frenchman has played 13 more games than any other United defensive player, meaning he has constantly had to adapt as his fellow defenders and goalkeeper were rotated around him.

It's Evra's attacking threat and energy that makes him such an attractive Fantasy League player, though playing in defence for a top-four club like Manchester United obviously helps.

Evra has notched up seven assists this season which is tied with Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic and second only to Everton's Leighton Baines, who managed 10.

It is those attacking points, and the fact he stayed injury free and played regularly, that has helped Evra become Fantasy League's top-scoring full-back for the second time in three years.

The former Monaco defender had a shaky start to his Manchester United career but this season will have been one of the first names on Alex Ferguson's team-sheet.

Evra will go into the World Cup as one of France's in-form players as they look to put an edgy unconvincing campaign behind them.
