Chelsea must settle for sixth after heavy defeat

Liverpool went some way to erasing the disappointment of Saturday's FA Cup final defeat by comfortably beating Chelsea 4-1 at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Goalscorers Jordan Henderson, Daniel Agger, Jonjo Shelvey and Ramires all scored three Fantasy League points for their efforts.

The result means Chelsea will finish sixth, and can no longer qualify for the Champions League through their league position.

A Michael Essien own goal gave the home side the lead midway through the first half when he inadvertently turned Luis Suarez's low cross into his own net.

Six minutes later Jordan Henderson took advantage of a slip by John Terry to latch onto Maxi Rodriguez's pass and double the lead.

Daniel Agger headed in a third a few minutes after that, when Andy Carroll nodded a corner back into the danger area.

Chelsea pulled a goal back just after the break when Florent Malouda's free-kick went in off the thigh of Ramires.

Jonjo Shelvey restored the cushion with a long-range effort into an unguarded net after Chelsea's stand-in keeper Ross Turnbull had miscued a clearance right to him.
