PSG move in for Modric, Heitinga on verge of surprise move and Zenit prepare bid for Berbatov

The Guardian reports that Paris Saint-Germain could enter the race for Luka Modric's signature and outbid Real Madrid.

The Spurs midfielder, who scored 24 fantasy football points last season, has been on Real Madrid's radar for some time now and only returned to training after a two day mini-strike in which he refused to join his team-mates on their pre-season tour of America.

Spurs want £40m for the Croatian playmaker but Real Madrid are prepared to offer no more than £27m plus a player exchange, while PSG are rumoured to be ready to meet the £40m price tag.

Elsewhere, John Heitinga could be on his way out of Goodison Park in a £5m move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, the Daily Mail reports.

Everton boss David Moyes has made no secret of the fact that he needs to sell before he can buy, but with Heitinga being named Fans’ Player of the Year last season, it seems a peculiar sacrifice.

Meanwhile, according to TalkSPORT, Dimitar Berbatov has attracted interest from Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg.

The Bulgarian had limited opportunities at Old Trafford last season, despite scoring seven goals in just five league appearances.

Zenit are said to be ready to offer around £5million for the former Spurs man, who has made public his desire to leave the Red Devils.

Elsewhere, BBC Sport reports that QPR are eyeing an audacious bid for Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy.

The Welshman, who scored six goals and provided three assists in 12 league appearances last year for a total of 24 fantasy football points, had been linked with a return to Cardiff City but QPR have now emerged as potential bidders for his services.

Finally, Stoke are on the brink of signing Houston Dynamo centre-back Geoff Cameron for £1.6million, according to ESPN.

Personal terms and a work permit have to be agreed on first, but it’s thought the deal will go through in the next few days.
