Arsenal
Arsenal have stepped up their chase for Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh as Emmanuel Adebayor prepares to leave after passing a medical at Manchester City. Arsenal and City have agreed a fee, believed to be in the region of £25m, and the deal now depends on the Togolese striker being granted a work permit, which shouldn't be a problem.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa have agreed a fee of £12m for Middlesbrough winger Stuart Downing according to sources. Villa also appear to be back in the race for Sheffield United full-back Kyle Naughton after he stalled on Everton's offer in order to consider his options. Everton and Tottenham have had bid's accepted but Villa are waiting in the wings and could make it a three-way tussle. Villa are also reported to be the latest in a long list of clubs to be interested in former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira. Meanwhile, Martin O'Neill could switch his attentions to Leicester youngster Andy King as hopes of signing Fabian Delph fade.
Birmingham
Birmingham could be about to step up their search for another midfielder with former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson rumoured to be in discussions with Alex McLeish about a move to St Andrews. Craig Gardner also seems to be on McLeish's wanted list, however current midfielder Gary McSheffrey wants crisis talks with the Birmingham management about his future.
Blackburn
Veteran striker Christian Vieri could appear for Blackburn in a friendly against Roma later this week after his trial period was extended. The 36-year-old, former Azzurri star has impressed Rovers boss Sam Allardyce with his finishing ability and will be given plenty of time to prove his fitness ahead of the new campaign.
Bolton
Bolton are finalising a deal for South Korean winger Lee Chung-Yong from FC Seoul. The highly rated 21-year-old will complete a £1.5m move once personal details have been agreed. The club are still in the hunt for Ferrie Bodde, although Wigan have now been linked with a late swoop for the Swansea midfielder, but any move for Zat Knight may have to wait until Aston Villa have signed a new defender of their own.
Burnley
Brian Easton completed his move to Burnley from Hamilton yesterday for £350,000, while Owen Coyle also put in a bid for Marcus Tudgay, which has been slammed by Sheffield Wednesday as 'derisory' and 'unwelcome.' The Clarets are also set to take Ecuador international Fernando Guerrero on trial and record signing Steven Fletcher scored two and assisted another in a 3-1 win over Morecambe last night.
Chelsea
Chelsea hope to resolve the issue of John Terry's future at Stamford Bridge before the squad depart on Thursday for their pre-season tour of America. Carlo Ancelotti and the Chelsea staff continue to work behind the scenes to persuade their star defender to remain with the club, despite continued interest from Manchester City.
Everton
The Toffees are chasing midfield ace Hassan Yebda from Portuguese club Benfica. Yebda is likely to be the subject of a £3m bid by David Moyes, who wishes to strengthen his midfield options ahead of the new season. Everton have also joined the race to sign Leeds' starlet Fabian Delph, who has already been the subject of a £6m bid from Aston Villa.
Fulham
Fulham received a massive boost in their pursuit of Jonathan Greening when he handed in a transfer request. The Cottagers had a £2.5m offer rejected by West Brom but could now get their man after he asked to leave the club. Greening, the Baggies captain, recently rejected a new contract and wants to return to the Premier League.
Hull
Hull face a battle to hold onto midfielder Bernard Mendy who has admitted he could leave the club this summer to join Paris St Germain. Meanwhile fellow midfielder George Boateng revealed that he is considering retirement. Elsewhere, the deal for Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy could finally be completed today.
Liverpool
Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is edging closer to the exit door after Real Madrid revealed they were prepared to meet Liverpool's £30m asking price. Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will reportedly use that money to buy Valencia winger David Silva.
Manchester City
Manchester City have agreed a fee with Arsenal over the transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor and the striker has passed a medical. The deal will go though once a work permit has been granted and City hope the Togo international will be able to jet off on their pre-season tour of South Africa.
Manchester United
After Alex Ferguson announced that Manchester United wouldn't be signing any more players the transfer speculation surrounding Old Trafford has come to an abrupt stop. However, the public squabble between Fergie and new Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez continues, with the Argentine claiming the Scot never spoke to him about staying and United didn't do enough to keep him.
Portsmouth
Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch is due to discuss personal terms with Sunderland after the Teesiders had a £12m bid accepted by the South Coast club. In further Portsmouth news, temporary manager Paul Hart looks set to be given responsibility to sign players despite the continued hunt for a permanent boss.
Stoke
Stoke boss Tony Pulis is returning to his January transfer targets as he tries to bring a first new face of the summer. The Potters have struggled to make any signings since the transfer window opened prompting Pulis to try and get the players he missed out on earlier in the year. Stoke have reportedly bid £3.5m for Ivory Coast striker Aruna Dindane, currently plying his trade for Lens, and are discussing personal terms with Sunderland midfielder Dean Whitehead.
Sunderland
Sunderland are in prime position to secure the services of Peter Crouch after a £12m bid was accepted by Portsmouth. The England ace could be about to line up alongside Craig Bellamy at the Stadium of Light after rumours arose that the Wales striker may be shipped out by Manchester City following the arrival of a host of new strikers at Eastlands.
Tottenham
Tottenham are still being linked with former Arsenal great Patrick Vieira and Harry Redknapp says the midfielder is willing to leave Inter Milan. However, the Italian club may have to subsidise any drop in the Frenchman's wages. Spurs are still trying to convince Sheffield United full-back Karl Naughton to chose them over Everton and have reportedly held talks with Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Meanwhile they are holding out for £16m for Darren Bent having rejected a £14m offer from Sunderland.
West Ham
It's pretty quiet on the transfer front at West Ham as they prepare for the new season with a training camp in Austria, although defender James Collins is reportedly a target for Sunderland. Kieron Dyer and Danny Gabbidon, who both missed much of last season through injury are back in training, while Scott Parker and Valon Behrami are working on personal fitness regimes. Manager Gianfranco Zola will surely be on the lookout for a goalkeeper after playing between the sticks himself during a training session.
Wigan
Wigan hope to finally complete the signing of Jason Scotland from Swansea today while they are also battling with Bordeaux for the signature of Madjid Bougherra. Meanwhile, defenders Titus Bramble and Emmerson Boyce have put pen-to-paper on new contracts.
Wolves
Wolves transfer target Zat Knight has been the subject of an enquiry from Bolton, which may leave the Midlands club being priced out of the market in terms of wages. Mick McCarthy is still looking for a centre-back, which means that Neill Collins has been made available for transfer and is likely to join a Championship side soon. Meanwhile Wolves have been linked with two midfielders, namely Newcastle's Nicky Butt and Nantes French midfielder Guirane N'Daw.
