Spaniard converts pole position into race win
Ferrari man Fernando Alonso extended his lead at the top of the World Drivers Championship by winning the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.
The Spaniard controlled the race from start to finish to beat Red Bull's Sebstian Vettel and McLaren's Jenson Button.
However, Vettel was later handed a 20-second penalty for his overtaking manoeuvre on Button in the closing stages of the race.
The time penalty meant that Button finished second and Kimi Raikkonen was promoted to third while Vettel was relegated down to fifth position behind Kamui Kobayashi.
Sergio Perez finished sixth ahead of Michael Schumacher, who earned the two bonus Fantasy League F1 points for setting the fastest lap of the race.
A early puncture and gearbox problems towards the end of the race meant that Lewis Hamilton was forced to retire and he was the only driver that failed to finish the Grand Prix.
