West Brom manager Steve Clarke will give late fitness tests to James Morrison and Jonas Olsson for their Premier League opener against Liverpool after both players picked up injuries away on international duty. New signing Markus Rosenberg is unlikely to make his debut because he lacks fitness, while Graham Dorrans will not feature as he’s on leave, with his daughter suffering from meningitis. Liam Ridgewell and Jerome Thomas have had minor hip and leg injuries respectively, but should be available pending late tests. On the plus side striker Shane Long has been declared fit, despite pulling out from the Republic of Ireland squad in midweek due to injury.

Fabio Borini and Joe Allen could both make their debuts as Brendan Rodgers takes charge of Liverpool for the first time at the Hawthorns. Former Chelsea man Borini has impressed in pre-season since arriving from Roma, while Allen is likely to be the man Rodgers builds his team around as he looks to replicate his Swansea style of football. Lucas could make his first Premier League appearance since November because he has recovered from injury. Joe Cole could also be involved, following a year on loan in France, after recovering from the hamstring injury he picked up in Europe a couple of weeks ago.
