The reigning World and European Champions start as favourites
Winning all eight qualifications matches on route to the Euro 2012 finals, World Cup winners and current European Champions Spain remain the team to beat.
While they have now shed their tag of underachievers at major tournaments, there are still questions to be asked of Vicente del Bosque's side which remain unanswered.
The Spanish certainly don’t lack creativity and their fluid midfield is unquestionably the best in the competition, as their ability to keep the ball and stretch opponents remains unrivalled.
However there have been a number of changes in defence throughout qualifying and they will have to make do without injured forward David Villa, the tournament's top scorer in 2008, and Spain's top marksman in qualifying.
Star Man - Xavi
If one player is the heart of this Spanish side then its Barcelona midfield maestro Xavi.
Not only is he the main playmaker, who regularly touches the ball more than any player on the pitch while maintaining a very high pass completion ratio, he also takes a number of the set pieces providing key assists, and points for any Fantasy league managers who select him.
Plus, don't forget his defence splitting through ball and his creativity in the final third.
One to Watch - Fernando Llorente
With David Villa sidelined, the job of spearheading the Spanish attack, could fall to Athletic Club striker Fernando Llorente.
The 6'5'' attacker scored three goals in qualifying and also helped his club side reach the Europa League final, with 29 goals in all competitions, including two against Manchester United.
Llorente gives Spain more options, as a player who can hold the ball up and use his aerial advantage, so he could become a very useful alternative for Vicente Del Bosque.
Certainly if the decision of who to play comes down to club form this season Llorente has a clear advantage over Fernando Torres.
