Portugal v Netherlands Match Preview

Portugal unchanged, Netherlands going for broke

Portugal

Porto forward Silvestre Varela will have to make do with a place on the bench again, even though he came on and scored the winner against Denmark on Thursday night. Helder Postiga should hold on to his place, he also scored in that game, despite increased pressure from Benfica youngster Nelson Oliveira.

Netherlands

The Netherlands need goals in order to have any chance of scraping into the quarter-finals and so expect them to go for it. Klass-Jan Huntelaar is almost certain to start, after having to make do as a second half substitute in the opening two games. Ibrahim Affelay will probably make way, and Robin van Persie will switch to the left. Bert van Marwijk may also cave in on the pressure from the Dutch press and drop one of his two holding midfielders. Rafael van der Vaart would be the man most likely to benefit from this change. Jetro Williems should hold onto his place, after improving in the second half against Germany.
