England facing further injury woes, Rogers heads to Liverpool and Terry handed three match ban

Frank Lampard has been officially ruled out of England’s Euro 2012 squad after picking up a thigh injury in training before England’s game against Belgium on Saturday.

The Daily Mail has confirmed that Jordan Henderson will replace the Chelsea midfielder, while concerns are still being raised over the fitness of Scott Parker.

The Tottenham man has a persistent Achilles problem that boss Roy Hodgson has already said will need careful management during the tournament.

Elsewhere, yesterday saw the installation of Brendan Rodgers as the new Liverpool manager.

The Telegraph reports that while names such as Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Martinez had been thrown into the hat over the past couple of weeks, it was the Swansea boss who finally received the seal of approval from the Reds’ American owners.

The Guardian is reporting, meanwhile, that Swansea have been granted permission to speak to Graeme Jones, the assistant manager at Wigan.

Though Jones is being touted as the surprise favourite for the job, other managers currently thought to be in the thoughts of the Swansea board are Brighton’s Gus Poyet, Blackpool’s Ian Holloway and Birmingham’s Chris Hughton.

In other news, Tottenham’s Michael Dawson has told of his desperation to be fully fit for the start of next season.

The Spurs centre-back only managed to score three fantasy football points in six appearances during an injury-ravaged season last year, but will be looking to put things right.

"I'm determined to make up for lost time, have a good season and play lots of game," he told Sky Sports.

Finally, Chelsea captain John Terry has been handed a three-match Champions League ban after his sending off in last season’s semi-final against Barcelona, reports the BBC.

Terry was absent during the final through suspension and will now miss the opening two games of his side’s historic title defence.

Terry scored 33 fantasy football points last season, though was ably covered by David Luiz in the Blues’ triumph in Munich.
