Playmaker backs rivals, starlet linked with Chelsea and Lescott linked with City exit

The BBC reports that Germany’s Mesut Ozil has named Spain as favourites to win Euro 2012 after watching La Roja ease to victory over the French.

"They are the biggest favourites, they dominated the entire match", he said in a press conference on Monday.

However, Ozil, who has 10 fantasy football points so far from his three assists in the tournament, said that he still believed Germany will able to topple the reigning World and European champions if they meet each other in the final.

According to UEFA’s news service, Germany have a full squad available for their semi-final against Italy and are likely to restore the dangerous trio of Lukas Podolski, Thomas Muller and Mario Gomez to the starting line-up.

One man who is unlikely to start but who impressed in Germany’s 4-2 victory over Greece was Andre Schurrle.

Metro reports that Schurrle may have attracted the attention of Roman Abramovich as part of the bid to shore up Chelsea’s attacking options in the wake of Didier Drogba’s departure from Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, back to the Euros, where the Italians will be missing Christian Maggio against Germany through suspension.

The right-back picked up his second yellow card of the competition against England, while Cesare Prandelli’s first choice full-back Ignazio Abate came out of Sunday’s game with a muscle problem.

The Independent suggests that if Abate is unable to start, Prandelli might revert to a three man defence.

In other transfer news, Joleon Lescott may have been one of England’s brighter spots at the Euros, but the 29-year-old may still be squeezed out of Eastlands, according to talkSPORT.

Lescott picked up 11 fantasy football points at Euro 2012, but Manchester City are apparently considering replacing him with Liverpool’s Daniel Agger, who was one of Denmark’s star players in Poland and Ukraine.

Another possible target would be Newcastle defender Fabricio Coloccini, who managed 17 fantasy football points in 34 matches for the Magpies last season.
