Blackburn powerhouse Yakubu was the top points scoring player at the weekend with a thunderous 12 points.

The colossal striker smashed home all four goals Rovers put past Swansea in a 4-2 win that took them off the foot of the table.

Former Sporting Lisbon midfielder Simon Vukcevic was awarded four points for two assists.

Stylish defender Thomas Vermaelen collected eight points for a goal, an assist and a clean sheet in Arsenal's comfortable 4-0 win over Wigan.

The Gunners have now won six of their last seven games and Robin van Persie was among the points yet again, plundering seven for a goal and two assists.

Manchester United won by a single goal to nil once more and versatile 19-year-old Phil Jones received six points for the winning goal and a clean sheet against Aston Villa.

Tottenham continued their remarkable form and kept up the pressure on the Manchester clubs by beating Bolton 3-0 with Gareth Bale and Jermain Defoe both registering five points.

Stoke got back to winning ways with a surprise 1-0 win away at Everton and giant defender Robert Huth scored six points, for the goal and a clean sheet.

Steven Fletcher also bagged six points in Sunday's late kick-off after scoring two second half goals as Wolves came back from a goal down to beat Sunderland 2-1.
