Drogba the Destroyer prepares for battle at the Bridge
If Chelsea are going to beat leaders Manchester City on Monday night they'll need Didier Drogba to be at the top of his game.
Luckily for their fans, Andre Villas-Boas and Fantasy League managers considering moves in the transfer market, he may just have rediscovered his very best form.
On Tuesday night, with Chelsea needing a win to reach the knockout stage of the Champions League, Drogba pulverised Valenica.
The Spaniards simply couldn't live with the power, strength and drive of the dominant Ivorian as he bulldozed his way to two goals and an assist.
It was a display reminiscent of the Drogba that first caught the eye of English football fans when he scored 11 European goals in Marseille colours back in 2003/04.
It was a display that reminded everyone how unplayable the 33-year-old can be when he's on song, just as he was in 2009/10 when he scored 113 Fantasy League points.
It was a display that will convince Chelsea fans that they can getter the better of Manchester City when they do battle at Stamford Bridge.
Drogba can dominate defenders like no other and if his confidence is high, as it surely must be after Tuesday's showing, then he'll fancy getting a goal against City, who despite their incredible start to the campaign have only kept four clean sheets so far.
Villas-Boas has struggled to decide upon his first choice striker this term, although Daniel Sturridge and Juan Mata have locked down the wide berths, and must be ready to hand Drogba an extended run in the team.
Drogba's 38th minute opener against Newcastle last weekend was just his second league goal of the campaign, but an increase in match practice and sharpness will surely mean a rise in Fantasy League points.
