Attacking Player of the Week

Norwich nugget nears national notoriety

This Fantasy Leaguer thought long and hard about bringing Anthony Pilkington into his Professional team two weeks ago.

In the end, he went with Pilkington's Norwich City team-mate Steve Morison and missed out on two goals, one assist and eight points.

Now is the time to make things right, by promoting the former Huddersfield midfielder as a candidate for your team and hopefully you can benefit from my mistake.

There are few better value players on the Player List, especially in Classic where Pilkington will set you back just £3.6m.

He already has 11 points to his name, making the 23-year-old the joint 11th best performing midfielder so far, alongside such luminaries as Aaron Ramsey and Chris Brunt.

All of his points so far have been come at important times for the Canaries too.

First he opened the scoring against Bolton as Norwich won on the road for the first time since their return to the Premier League.

His second batch of points came in the 3-1 win over Swansea, where his brace ensured Norwich got the better of their newly promoted rivals.

And finally, Pilkington set up Grant Holt's leveller in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Liverpool, which would have received more press coverage if not for a certain Manchester derby the following day.

Pilkington's taken a difficult route to the top flight, starting at non-league Atherton Collieries after being released by Saturday's opponents Blackburn.

Stockport took a punt on the talented wide-man and he impressed enough to earn a move to Huddersfield, where he became a key figure in their ultimately unsuccessful promotion push.

Paul Lambert wasted no time in bringing the winger to Carrow Road after securing promotion and was convinced his new signing would fulfil his potential.

Blackburn clearly didn't have such faith in Pilkington when they let him go five years ago and that decision could come back to haunt them when they're reunited this weekend.

Will Pilkington prove to be a wise Fantasy League purchase or is he the latest flash in the pan? Have your say, leave a comment below.
