Birmingham have boosted their attacking options ahead of their return to the top flight by signing Ecuador international Christian Benitez for an undisclosed fee.

The creative striker has agreed personal terms or the move and will undergo a medical to finalise the deal.

Although the transfer fee hasn't been announced it is believed to be in region of £9 million, dwarfing the £6 million the Blues spent on Emile Heskey in 2004.

As with all transfers he'll he won't be added to the Player List until he's received international clearance.
