Southampton teenager pens deal

Arsenal have signed promising Southampton youngster Alex Chamberlain on a long-term contract, for a fee believed to be in the region of £12m.

Arsene Wenger's men have been linked with the 17-year-old, who has only played 36 senior games at club level in his career, for a while now and he has finally landed his man.

Chamberlain, who started his career as a winger but operated in central midfield for much of last season, has nine goals to his name and will give Arsenal an extra option going forward.

Elsewhere, Newcastle have signed midfielder Gabriel Obertan from Manchester United.

The 22-year old, who failed to score a Fantasy League point in two seasons at Old Trafford, has signed for an undisclosed fee and will add pace to the Newcastle attack.

Sunderland have secured the services of 22-year-old Derry City midfielder James McClean for an initial fee of £350,000 and Blackburn have signed defensive midfielder Radislav Petrovic from FK Partizan.
