Liverpool are reportedly putting pressure on Celtic and Manchester United by joining the race to sign Martin Odegaard from Norwegian Premier League champions Strømsgodset IF, knowing that a bid of around £10million would land the Scandinavian prodigy.

Aged just 15 but possessing talent in extreme abundance, the youngster is already being heralded as one of the three biggest attacking midfield talents in European football along with AC Milan wonderkid Hachim Mastour (16 years old) and recent Barcelona signing Alen Halilovic (who’s just turned 18).

Odegaard has been described by coaching staff at Strømsgodset in a recent interview as “perhaps the touch of (fellow Scandinavian) Michael Laudrup and the vision of Pirlo, but with the pace of a winger” and has put Europe’s top clubs on red alert.

Real Madrid were interested according to Marca, but Odegaard’s family know youth player development at the Spanish club is difficult (see: Alvaro Morata).

Manchester United have also been linked, as have Celtic who have an edge with new manager Ronny Deila knowing the player personally, but Liverpool’s reputation is incredibly strong in Norway and Brendan Rodgers’ ability to nurture players is becoming renowned.

Could this starlet be set to become a Fantasy League gem? Would you bid for him at your Auction He's certainly one to watch, as you can see in the video below:
