West Ham will be without midfielder Jack Collison for their return to the Premier League against Aston Villa. Collison has aggravated a knee injury and will not be fit to feature, however James Collins has been declared fit following a minor groin injury, allowing him to start against his former club. Kevin Nolan and George McCartney have toe and back injuries respectively, but are expected to be fine to face Villa. Boss Sam Allardyce has revealed that new signings Alou Diarra and Modibo Maiga, will not be handed their first start for the club.

Ron Vlaar, Karim El Ahmadi and Matthew Lowton could all make debuts for Paul Lambert's first game in charge at Upton Park. Australian Brett Holman is also in contention for a first start after shaking off a knee problem picked up on international duty in midweek. Richard Dunne, Marc Albrighton and Gabriel Agbonlahor are all missing trough injury, while club captain Stiliyan Petrov continues to battle his long-term illness. Alan Hutton and Stephen Warnock are both out of favour under the new manager and their days at Villa Park appear to be numbered.
