During the 1993/94 Premiership season, the Fantasy League game came to national prominence when it was licensed as the UK's first-ever national fantasy football game through The Daily Telegraph newspaper. Entry levels soared to over 300,000 resulting in the game being awarded the Grand Prix of Grand Prix for the best newspaper promotion of the last 30 years.
